CREB Research
Army operations require batteries that have high energy density and are able to endure extreme temperatures, as well as thermal and mechanical stresses during storage, transport and maneuvers. The University of Maryland (UMD) will lead efforts to foster and accelerate collaborative research for advanced battery materials, characterization techniques and technologies (i.e., fundamental research to manufacturing) with institutional partners from academic, industry and government entities. This team will cooperatively conduct cutting-edge foundational research to advance battery materials and chemistries for extreme high energy/power densities, extreme charging capabilities, extreme safety and extreme working environments to enable the U.S. Warfighter transformational overmatch for multi-domain operations.
