The Univeristy of Maryland is home to a number centers and laboratories suited to facilitate research in battery technology. The University of Maryland Energy Research Center provides a wealth of research expertise and personell, as well as collaboration opportunities with its research members. The Maryland NanoCenter includes 2 shared user facilities, with access to other shared user facilities around campus.

The University of Maryland Energy Research Center provides a comprehensive balanced energy research program, based on the most efficient use of our natural resources while minimizing environmental impacts and our dependence on imported energy, with faculty expertise across a broad spectrum of energy technology and policy.
The Maryland NanoCenter houses a class 10,000 cleanroom, FabLab, as well as a microscopy and characterization lab, AIM Lab. These facilities, located in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering building allow easy access to external users to create and characterize their devices. Additionally, the NanoCenter incorporates partner labs to match users to shared-user facilities across campus.
